Every once in a while, there comes a film wherein everything I know about it is purely against my will. Rarely do I watch these films, but at the same time, rarely are they ever awarded 13 Oscar nominations. After watching—and with an open mind, mind you—much like Zoe Saldaña: “I am very sad. I’m also disappointed,” and “taking my time to process.”

  • Director Jacques Audiard wants to take his audience in a different direction, so instead of a sepia filter over Mexico, he actually sets it up to look like Gotham City à la Joker (2019).
