This year was my first with a press pass for my own magazine, something I thought—which seems ridiculous now—would be cheating. The first morning had competing screenings for three films I wanted to see, Sentimental Value, If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, and Magellan. I opted for the first, so Sennah and I could start the festival together. Once seated, we held our passes up to take a picture. Her headshot from our Issue 9 photoshoot at Bay Street Video, mine from three years ago after doing my makeup at a bus stop under a bush. It felt like a significant moment, until I was scolded for posting the photo online with my QR code visible.
